hi all! happy sunday to you.

a new album template is coming on friday at my store at mscraps.

before it will be released, i would like to give away 1 to a blessed person on wednesday night.

i decided to end it on wednesday since i might be off the air this coming weeks. we are transferring again (for the fourth time) to a new house. this will be another story. but for the meantime, i hope many will participate for my little give away.

i created a photobook for my eldest son's first year & embellished it using my make me smile kit. it's a "clean style" photobook, lots of white spaces for journaling or documentations. it is 52 - 8x8 layered templates + front & back covers + opening & closing pages.

KUNG HEI FAT CHOY...

it's our (k & i) year... year of the dragon.

hoping for the best but whatever happen to us this year, good or bad, trials or blessings, God's will be done. He knows our hearts desires and He is good... as He has promised "He will never leave us nor forsake us".

and because it's chinese new year, i am craving for tikoy... the plain round tikoy. ahhhhh... i even asked a friend who is having his vacation now in cebu to buy me a box. hahaha... i specially like the plain tikoy and not those tikoy with filling or flavors. when we were young, my parents would buy a box of plain tikoy once in a while then we slice the sticky tikoy in wedges then dip in a beaten egg ans then fry on a little oil until golden. ahhhhh... yummy while still hot.

while i was browsing the net to look for a good place to buy tikoy in cebu, i stumbled upon noynoy's blog, cebu and davao journey, and guess what i found out other than tikoy? batchang!!! ahhhh... the more i got hungry and i began to crave for batchang as well. i just miss these chinese foods. my father buys us batchang most of the time after his work. these foods simply reminded me of a beautiful childhood when we were still living in manila.

tikoy. lots of tikoy. but i still prefer the plain round tikoy.

PATATIM for Noche Buena

we celebrated last new year's eve with one of our close family friends (the cayabyabs) since we live in the same house villa. we just stayed home believing that staying and welcoming the new year together will keep our family intact. that was our 5th year of celebrating new years here in uae.

we just had a simple dinner with wine and conversation. then we watched the fireworks at the burj khlifa live on tv. the cayabyabs shared their pasta marinara and it was yummy. we prepared pancit canton, macaroni fruit salad and patatim. finally, i was able to convinced K to prepare patatim this time instead of the usual lechon ala kim. this was our first time and it was a success.

i searched the net for a simple patatim recipe and as always i visit ms. connie's foodblog. there i found her 2 patatim recipes but K and i decided to follow her braised pork hock recipe but substituting other ingredients with what's available here in al ain.

it turned out quiet good and even more tasty the next day. but as ms. connie said, "when you substitute, the result always changes and you may have something not good or something better". i can't say it's better but it's good.

NEW NAME

i know... i know... i know...
i was supposed to do this for january but i clicked something on my old blogger that i got confused already about everything and am still confuse now. lol... anyways, i finally decided on wearing a new blog name & designer name. friends have supported my plans of changing names. after much thought, i finally am here to announce that from now on i♥scrap will become ing♥designs (the heart is optional). once again i am asking you to update your links to this one now. i found it hard to let go of my previous designer/store name i♥scrap since it was my first though. =(

and i also have a new freebie for the holidays. i intended to release a freebie for the uae's national day last december 2nd but i was not able to finish it. so, i decided to vhanged it to a little holiday freebie still using the colors of the uae flag as the palette. here it is:

i had to post this earlier since we will be away for 2 days starting today (in a few more hours). it's uae's 40th national day and we have 3 days holiday. we decided to go to abu dhabi (uae's largest city) to see the fireworks (maybe tonight or tomorrow night). we are off to visit the grand mosque as well. we have been here for 4 years now but we are visiting the grand mosque for the first time tomorrow, inshala. we are with our family close friends and we will be spending the night with our friends & their family at their home in abu dhabi. so, this will be a great weekend... celebrate together with the uae nation their national day.

i was hoping to get a freebie done today but we went with our family friends to the light show at the jahli fort and spend a couple of cold hours at the jahli park (this will be for another blogpost). unfortunately, i wasn't able to finish my national day freebie... pardon me. but definitely i will post it here once i get it done & uploaded. i have a few more freebies coming this month though so keep on visiting me here.

A NEW DAY { Kit }

Happy iDSD everyone!!!

It is also the start of a long holiday for us here in the middle east because of the big eid celebration from Saturday to Monday. We will be having a few days of rest & family time... and it's great. And for the celebration of the iDSD, we at Mscraps prepared a FB/blog hop for you. So start hopping at Mscraps forum.

I am early for the FB/blogtrain hop since today, we will also be busy preparing for my sister's house warming; so, I'd rather post this earlier than scheduled than totally forget it at all. My sister (younger) recently moved here in UAE from Qatar and now the 'free-spirited bird' found herself a little 'birdhouse' to call her own while here in Al Ain. For that I am throwing a little get-together with a few close friends to help me welcome her here. She doesn't have friends yet except for her officemates. Lol. MAX'S STYLE FRIED CHICKEN { Foodography }

Yay... I was just browsing the net for random foodies that would capture my eyes... What? What am I saying?... Whatever... LOL. And then I came across this recipe which I have been wanting to try, Max's style fried chicken (sarap to the bones!) from Panlasang Pinoy. You can view Vanjo Merano's Max's Style fried Chicken recipe here with a video on step-by-step procedure. Thanks Vanjo for sharing.

Digiscrapping mojo is m-i-s-s-i-n-g, I have been trying to finish this kit for 2 weeks now & I'm still halfway to the finish line. Hump... On the other hand, the cooky me is present, so here's my take to the Philippines Max's style fried chicken which is the most popular dish of the Max's Restaurant.

Ingredients:

1 whole Chicken

6 pcs. Dried bay leaves

1/4 cup Cilantro or Parsley, chopped

4 cups Water

3 cups Cooking oil

2 tsp. Salt

1 tsp. Ground black pepper

Direction:

1. In asteamer, pour the water and bring to a boil.

2. Add thedried bay leaves and chopped cilantro in the boiling water.

3. Steamthe chicken for 45 minutes.

4. Removethe chicken from the steamer and allow the excess liquid to drip. Let thechicken cool down.

5. Rub saltand pepper all over the chicken.

6. In adeep-fryer or tall pot, pour the cooking oil and apply heat.

7. When thecooking oil is hot enough, deep-fry the chicken for about 12 minutes. (If thechicken is not entirely immersed in oil, flip the chicken to fry the other sidefor another 12 minutes or until color turns golden brown)

8. Removethe chicken from the fryer and allow oil to drip.

The verdict as per the Hubby... looks & tastes like the real Max's friend chicken. But best served with ketchup, hot sauce (Tabasco) & soy sauce. I will be trying this again later and I will add dried lemon during steaming; then place it in the refrigerator covered after cooling down. I have read somewhere that when placed inside the refrigerator, the skin will tightened and become crunchy or crisp when deep fried. Hmmm... got to try that later.

Just made a little search and found that I have tried this before (even blogged about it here) but I just used a chicken leg instead of whole chicken. So far, as I was trying to remember the taste of it, I like this version by Panlasang Pinoy better but Mr Ut-man's version is worth trying, too. This is just my preference, maybe also because I am not into patis really. Hehehe... Hmmm... will try Mr. Ut-man's version soon, too.

Trying hard to lose some weight... this is what I have been trying to achieve for years. Then a friend introduces this Brazilian Slimming coffee & told us to take it every morning 30 minutes before breakfast and that should somehow accompany taking this with some body movements or exercise so that it would be more effective. So, we did tried. With my two frienships I was the first one to try it ahead. First couple of days of taking it I felt light like I'm floating. Then eventually I don't feel bloated anymore like I used to, I am always thirsty & I always go the the toilet to pass urine. Plus I don't feel hungry nor crave for food anymore like before. I thought this is it. A couple of weeks have passed by I couldn't see any difference then my two friendships started telling me I look like I am loosing weight already since my clothes are starting to look loose on me. Hmmmm... maybe the slimming coffee is working now or was it just their imagination. But when I tried to fit those clothes I kept that don't fit me anymore, wooow... it fits! Wow! Yes! Woot! Yay! I was shouting for joy actually. I was glad... I am glad with what I am becoming, slowly loosing weight. So, I decided to religiously drink this slimming coffee everyday for as long as I have to or until I have reached my desired weight then I would take it for maintenance. It's actually helping me not to crave on food & I can easily stop eating because I already feel full even with only a few bit or spoon. I am thinking it's good.

Then my friendship's sister was hesitant to take it since she was not feeling good the first time she took it; so, she did a little research and she found this blog, A Bang's Life. I was in shocked reading through her blog about slimming coffee and the dangers in drinking it but since I could see her photos of her own experiment, I tried it myself using the 3 coffees I usually take (Brazilian Coffee, Alitea & David Off)... and here's what I found out.


The bottom part are simply mixed with hot water. The middle part I mixed with dishwashing liquid & it just had minor change in color. But the upper part I added detergent powder dissolved in water and the slimming coffee turned reddish... and according to what I read that means something to be worried about. =(

You can read her blog about this here. I don't actually understand everything specially those scientific terms but what I understood is that slimming coffees are dangerous & health hazards. Although we needed the right institutions to do the testings to prove that whether it is okay or not okay, it is instilled in my mind that it could be dangerous. But what to do now that I have taken almost 10 boxes of the slimming coffee? I just hope & pray that it won't do harm on me or I could find a way to flush it out (?).

While reading through all the comments on Miss Bang's blog, I read this comment from an Anonymous author specially mentioning the Brazilian Coffee:

Is it safe to use appetite suppressants??? It might be or it might be not kasi iba iba ang nature ng mga ito. One kind is yung nabibili sa drug store, another one is herbal or natural (e.g. Garcinia Cambogia) However, FDA and BFAD hindi nila nireregulate ito nor inievaluate for safety and efficacy. That’s the reason kung bakit walang approval ito galing sa BFAD,

For your information:
Certain laboratory made na appetite suppressants like the above mentioned by Miss bang “Sibutramine” It works by acting on appetite control centers in the brain to decrease appetite. “Sibutramine” has been banned and wthdrawn from the market sa US, Canada, Austrialia, UK etc.dahil sa maraming safety concerns and contraindications.
Increased rate of heart attack and stroke. Centrally acting medication kaya maraming affected na systems and organs sa katawan.
Nervous System- headache, confusions, dizziness, sleeplessness, depression, anxiety, change in appetite, dry mouth etc.
Cardio- highblood, low blood, chestpain, palpitations etc
Renal- diuresis, backpains etc.
Digestive- nausea,heartburn, constipation,stomachache
Eyes- eye pain, change in vision etc.

Yung substance na ito nakita din sa certain herbal supplements na hindi natin alam. Imagine maraming chemical substances that most likely be included sa mga slimming coffee na yan hindi lang yung nabanggit ni ms. Bang.
I must agree to her that those products need further laboratory tests.Yung mga manufacturer na yan na walang ibang hangad kundi kumita lng ng pera at ang mga resellers nationwide na careless sa health ng kapwa nila.

It seems you like to be famous and be a good commentator like “Bang” but actually both of you are people with no good accomplishment. Commenting on something with out solid evidence . Dropping your statement of “Slimming Coffee or Killer Coffee” is a big accusation that needs to get attention from the manufacturers of those slimming coffee. Both of you are lucky of living in the Philippines that until now no manufacturer is filing a case against you of “Defamation”.

Hello everyone! This is Grace again… Just forgot to mention, I was with 24 hour fitness for 3 years and never lost a single pound. What a waste of money paying $24 for my membership fee monthly and gas expenses of going to the gym everyday… But with the Fashion Slimming Coffee for 3 months, I lost 15 pounds and my cholesterol level went down from 300 to 230 based on my recent blood test. At present… I am still alive and kicking. Trying to be more healthy and to look more gorgeous at the age of 48 by taking the slimming coffee. ASIAN ROASTED CHICKEN { Foodography }

I have been wanting to blog about this for weeks already but just had enough time to do it right now. Lol. We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary last month, August 28, 2011 to be exact. But ~~we chose to celebrate it the day before~~ I chose to cook the day before our anniversary since the 28th would be a Sunday, a working day for all of us here in UAE. A few days before I am already scanning my new free food magazines, Good Taste, for easy-to-bake goodness and fortunately found this yumminess. I think it is easy to bake and delicious, too. And I am so glad everybody liked it. Later in the afternoon. hubby and I watched a movie; I considered it a date since we rarely go out anymore. We watched Zookeeper and we enjoyed and we kept on laughing.

So try this sumptuous roasted chicken. It is easy to bake with less and easy-to-find ingredients required. Here the recipe recommended to serve it with steamed vegetables but we served it with Ampalaya Salad (Bitter Gourd Salad). The chicken meat is soft, juicy and tasty; a little bit of sweetness and chili were there but no ingredient empowered the taste. It's a blend of everything. As for the chili sauce, I used sweet chilli sauce instead and used only 20 ml since I have kids. I wanted them to enjoy the chicken.

Asian Roasted Chicken

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 90 minutes

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

15 ml Sesame oil

15 ml Oil

30 ml Lemon juice

15 ml Garlic, chopped

30 ml Fresh ginger, grated

30 ml Chili sauce

30ml Soy sauce

30 ml Hoisin sauce

30 ml Honey or apricot jam

1 medium Whole free-range chicken

Strings for tying the chicken legs

Procedure:

1.Pre-heat oven to 200ºC.

2. Combine all the ingredients (except the chicken and string) in a bowl to make a basting sauce.

3. Rinse the chicken and pat dry. Place in roasting tray and brush with basting sauce. Tie the legs of the chicken with a string and tuck in the wings.

4. Place the chicken in the oven and roast for 90 minutes.

5. Remove from pan, tipping the juices from the cavity into the pan, and allow it to rest for 5 minutes.

6. Cut the chicken into portions and serve with steamed rice, green beans, bok choy or wilted baby spinach.

Note:

While the chicken is resting, pour 125 ml coconut milk into the simmering pan with the juices (from the chicken) and stir well to make a fragrant gravy. Just a few minutes or until the gravy is a little thick but pourable. For me, I placed the roasting tray directly on the stove top and then cook the gravy from there.

Hi... Just wanna share this happy moments with you when my eldest son turned 7 last August 11. We were confused as to what to do & where to hold his birthday. We just came back from a month of vacation to Philippines to celebrate my youngest son's first home-coming & 2nd birthday. Traveling was quite expensive and so we were late on deciding what to do on Makuy's birthday. The week of his birthday we decided to spend it at the park. Fortunately, the weather was not as hot as we expected, it was a blessing indeed. Here are some of the photos during that fair day.

This is our birthday boy, MARKUS. He only received a few gifts compared to his last 3 birthdays here in UAE but I was glad he didn't complain instead he was happy he got presents (& he loved all of them thanks to those who gave). He wore a white shirt with no. 7 stitched by the bbff Mads (((hugs))). It was a bit tight but he still wore it so that people would know how old he is. *wink*

We prepared the whole day since we invited a lot of friends to be coming but maybe because it's Ramadan, only a few came (not even half of what we expected). It's okay, no hurt feelings. LOL. It was just the same group of friends we always spend park time with (missing a couple friends here). Thanks guys... Luv ya'all.

It was actually fun specially because we had a photobooth courtesy of Ayot (huge thanks Yots!). I didn't expect it would be that fun. The children were playing and riding bikes while we, the older ones and the not so older ones, stoke some pose at the photobooth. LOL

We didn't have our gift yet to Kuya. We were waiting for the Eid Sale since Kuya is asking for a bigger remote controlled toy this time. Next week, Lord-willing we would be able to buy our gift for him. *wink* OMG... time flies so fast. Before we know it, Kuya would have a deep voice already. LOL.
